Overcoming Lust and Adultery
If you were raised in an environment where lust and adultery were common, you are not alone. There are many people in your shoes.
The good news is, you don't have to be a slave to your up-bringing. You don't have to continue to wear the shame of the things you allow and do.
God has provided a way for you to escape these traps set by Satan, when you were young.
There is a way to break the hold of the desires that you have, those overwhelming feelings you fight with, but have never been able to defeat.
Now you can defeat them once and for all.
Light Shines Into The Darkeness
Matthew 4:16 says, "The people living in darkness saw a great light; and for those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned".
God has sent his Son Jesus to deliver you from the powers of darkness and death. It makes no difference how many chains the devil has you bound with.
Proverbs 5:22 says. "The deeds of the wicked trap them; the chords of their sins hold them fast".
How Do We Get Trapped?
The statement above, from Proverbs 5:22, gives us a hint to how we are caught by the enemy of our souls. This next statement from 2nd Timothy confirms it.
2nd Timothy 2:25-26 says, "Those who oppose themselves must be gently instructed in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth. And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will".
The bible tells us that it is God's plan that we not only escape Satan's traps, but also learn to avoid them. You can see in Proverbs 5:22 and 2 Timothy 2:26, we are also told how the devil captures us.
If you're reading this article, it is because God has lead you here at this time, to arm you with knowledge, to help you find your way out of the darkness and lay aside the sin which entangles you.
There are so many articles online in this world. So, the chances of you finding this article are extremely slim. It's obvious that God has made the first move, to getting you that deliverance, by bringing you here.
He knows what you need, and how hard you've tried to get there on your own. He also knows how much you seek him. So be encouraged because he has been seeking you also.
How Do We Get Out?
Getting out of the traps laid by Satan are not as difficult as you would think. In fact, Satan is actually quite powerless when it comes to you and I.
His power resides in his ability to deceive people with crafty and cunning lies that he has been perpetuating from the beginning.
He would like us to believe that we are powerless against him. For this purpose, he has spread many lies over the centuries to convince people of that very thing.
Satan has told you that you are trapped in the lust of your flesh until you leave this earth and stand before God, and that there's nothing you can do about it.
In other words, we are completely bound by our desires and the only way out is to believe Jesus died on the cross, was raised from the grave, ascended to heaven, and will return someday to transform us from this vile flesh into a righteous being like himself.
The Truth According To The Bible
John 1:12 tells us that all who receive Jesus are given power by him to become sons of God. Sons of God are equal with Jesus in terms of power over sin, flesh and death.
For instance, when Jesus had sent his disciples to preach, and they return amazed at the fact demons were under their authority, Jesus replied, "I have given you power over all the power of the enemy"... in Luke 10:19. This power is extended to you and I by virtue of the Holy Spirit, when we receive Jesus and his teachings, and walk in obedience to the gospel.
This power of the gospel, which is the power unto salvation to all who believe, as Paul states in Romans 1:16, is how you and I free ourselves from sin and death.
It is us who get ourselves trapped, and it us who must recover ourselves. Wait! how can we do that? I thought Christ does that.
Jesus is the Word of God, and he came to bring the grace and truth that teaches us the faith of God. It is the truth of God that leads us to repentance, when we have faith and walk in the righteousness of God found in the gospel of Jesus.
Again, Jesus is the righteousness of God. Simply put, the righteous teachings of our Father in heaven. The doctrine that instructs us and leads us to eternal salvation.
This is why Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me".
